The Philippine Pro Gaming League 2018 by Globe and Mineski Events Team is finally drawing to a close. After the qualifying events in Metro Manila, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu, the time has come for the finale.

Tekken players from all over the country swarmed the qualifying events for PPGL 2018. The first event back in January 20 was in Cagayan de Oro’s Captain Poi’s Game House. Qualifying there were two familiar names in the local competitive scene: Neil “Wong” Tan, and Charlton “Don Saitama” Dofera. These two players are regularly seen in high ranks of local tournaments, especially Wong who is considered to be the best in their region.

In the second qualifier, the players of Cebu lined up at their local Tekken 7 hotspot, ClutchZone. Coming out on top in their qualifiers were local top players Alexander “PBE|Bully” Lim and Francis “UFTC.Gogoy” Cabahug. For quite a while, Gogoy has been the undisputed best player in Cebu with his internationally renowned Xiaoyu. During the qualifier however, Bully managed to become the better player.

Finally in Metro Manila, two qualifiers were held over a single weekend at PlayBook Makati. Four players in total qualified from these events namely, Alexandre “PBE|AK” Laverez, Andreij “PBE|Doujin” Albar, Djamille “PBE|Naturelover” San Juan, and Elijah “CGP|Legion.Haji” Espera. The two international players of the country AK and Doujin continues to reign at the top of the scene in Metro Manila, with no absolute clear contenders in sight at the moment. Many of our top players aren’t too far behind however, and are clearly closing the gap. Also qualifying among these dedicated players are Naturelover and Haji.

These players will be facing off at the PPGL 2018 grand finals on March 24-25 at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center. Admission is free so if you’re interested in watching, feel free to drop by and experience the grand finale of the Philippine Pro Gaming League.
