The Osaka qualifier for The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2016 (KoIFT 2016) was held on November 5, 2016 and three players managed to qualify for the big Japan Final. The qualifier featured three tournaments during the qualifier. A tournament was held for university students, another for female players, and one open tournament that anybody can enter.

For the university students’ division, one of the top Kazumi players in Japan, Karei took the top spot over TSUBUMI.

In the women’s division on the other hand, crowd favorite Tanukana fell short of the top spot against fellow Xiaoyu player Mimi no Tomodachi.

Finally, for the open tournament, last year’s champion Nobi landed in fourth place after being defeated by Nidaime Icusu and Tobita Shinchan. Coming out on top was Chikurin after defeating Nidaime Icusu in the final.

The top two players of each division get to participate in The King of Iron Fist 2016 Finals in Japan on December 10, 2016. Another qualifier will be held on November 11, 2016 at Tokyo where another six players will be qualifying for the final tournament for a total of 12 players for Japan. They will be facing against representatives from various countries including: Tissuemon (Paris), PBE.AK (Philippines), Meat (Indonesia), Saint (Korea), Knee (Korea), Devil (Poland).

With a lineup like this, KoIFT 2016 just got way hotter. Be sure not to miss it.
