The TEKKEN World Tour 2018 has officially begun and the rules have changed since last year’s competition. This year, players are free to earn points at any tournament in the tour without being concerned about their region of origin. Players from Americas, Europe, Asia-Oceania can play in each other’s tournaments and earn points for the single leaderboard of the TEKKEN World Tour.

But traveling is expensive and for the Philippines’ top ranking player in last year’s TEKKEN World Tour, the climb just got worse with the new rules. Andreij “PBE|Doujin” Albar placed sixth in our region last year, one short of qualifying for the grand finals which was held in the United States. In the tour he managed to get 166 points over five events (one online tournament), placing 2nd in Abuget Cup where he defeated Echo Fox’s Saint and third in TWFighter Major where he defeated Korean player Kkokkoma, Japanese player Pekosu, and Saint again.

Aside from the TEKKEN World Tour, PBE|Doujin had an exceptional performance in other international tournaments as well. At the International Esports Federation’s Esports World Championship 2017, PBE|Doujin defeated Thailand’s Book in the grand finals and claims his first international championship. After that he was also invited to the World Esports Legendary League where he placed 2nd after losing to Japan’s Noroma in the grand finals, but not before eliminating TEKKEN World Tour champion Qudans in the loser’s bracket.

Now that the tour is essentially open for all contenders, PBE|Doujin is requesting assistance in the form of funding for his travels. If you are interested, or know somebody who might be interested in funding PBE|Doujin’s participation in the TEKKEN World Tour, you can visit his GoGetFunding page right here.

If you’re interested in funding other players from the Philippines, feel free to message us on twitter, or on our official Facebook page.
